Have you ever been in an argument where a deep resistance exists and out of nowhere someone cracks up laughing and the argument is over? You might even start to wonder what the argument was ever about…
…this is the magic of amusement.
Amusement is the lowest vibration in which you can be aware of yourself as a spiritual being. How so? True amusement helps you step out of life’s dichotomies. Denial (pretending something does not exist) and becoming (the only thing that exists) are released when in a state of true amusement creating a sense of experiencing and validation (acknowledgement of what is).
Before diving in more lets define false amusement… ‘humour’ creating a state of judgment (good vs. bad). You know that teasing quality that is more about inflating one’s ego than genuine playfulness. Yes that. This can also be internalized, creating a distorted or depressed sense of self. This falseness, in its simplest form, creates a frozen-ness to the flow of life, known as resistance. Resistance cannot coexist with healthy amusement. Once you’ve gone into resistance, you’ve lost your amusement…thus losing your sense of wholeness and awareness of self as a spiritual being.
Lets dive a bit deeper into resistance. Resistance is a form of denial, through the actions of judgment and effort and typically is seeded in fear. Resistance is also often confused with anger, but in actuality, healthy anger is akin to life force energy helping one get through dire situations. Whereas resistance will keep someone stuck with the situation…thinking about it over and over again, sometimes even years later. That said, not everything in life is going to amuse you and amusement supports a flow of life through you – creating a sense of self, bigger than what is going on. You exist beyond the situation.
“Notice that the stiffest tree is most easily cracked, while the bamboo or willow survives by bending with the wind.” ~ Bruce Lee
Lets take resistance movements as an example. They give themselves an identity through their resistance (a false sense of self). Once what they are in resistance to is gone, their identity is gone. It also gives the dynamics of what they are in resistance to, the power in the given situation…in particular power over you. What ‘they’ do controls how you feel, how you behave and so forth. Hence why resistance movements are destined to fail from the onset… to maintain the survival of the resistance, the ‘what’ it is in resistance to, needs to be kept alive.
Through that symbiotic relationship, an unholy alliance, both identities continue to exist. The relationship is then continuously fed resistance and fear distracting from what naturally wants to emerge, a creation of something new. To add to all of that, resistance takes a great deal of energy and will create burnout and lack of personal responsibility. The latter having a direct relationship to freedom, further entrenching that which the resistance grew from.
Lets further refine this into centers of power around the globe. When most people think of work, banking systems, politics and other centers of power, typically they get into resistance/judgment. I would even venture to say that these centers aim to create public resistance and apathy to maintain their identity and existence. Apathy being on the flip side of the same coin as resistance. This then keeps the system intact. Hence why these systems are slow to change.
So lets get to amusement…say you get into judgment about what I am stating here, in other words resistance. How much room do you actually have to…
A] create and learn something new
B] hear what I am stating and
C] take what fits for you and let go of the rest?
How much personal responsibility over your state of being, can you take when you are arguing with what I am stating? Via resistance you are giving me the ability to control and influence your state of being. What if you added a dash of amusement? Would you still be in resistance? Try it the next time you get into resistance, like a visit to the in-laws. Be prepared though, you may meet resistance along the way.
Amusement is a great example of where your internal reality can directly impact the external. What do you think the outcome would be if people added amusement to their lives? A sense of lightness and so forth. What if you added that into your life? Be amused no reason why, other then to enjoy life. What changes might that bring?
Energy flows where attention goes.
Could this possibly stop hatred? Create peace on earth?
Imagine the endless applications of Amusement into your life. Would you pay more attention to some hilarious prank on a politician or someone screaming unrecognizable slurs? What would have more impact on the masses spreading the message?
I’ll be clear Amusement is not a means to be passive about a situation. It simply is a state of being allowing for the flow of life to be engaged in you, around you and outside of you.
What you resist persists – you become. What you set free allows you to be.
