Emergent stories that create hope and inspire people to action are of the utmost value at a time when many traditional systems are failing. The Eagle and Condor Prophecy is multi-layered with diverse tribes interpreting and enacting variants of the story. Whether it is the Hopi running with sacred waters to perform an Eagle Dance at the foot of The Pyramid of the Sun or Aztec retracing migration routes with the Sacred Fire, there is an awakening happening of epic proportions. Like the Phoenix rising from the ashes, a story of hope isn’t complete without delving into the darkness and destruction that is threatening all of life on our planet. As we sit at this crossroads in history, the Eagle and Condor is a tale that shows what kinds of magic are possible when we balance indigenous wisdom with modern science.

Some tellings of this story say that the Condor represents spirituality, indigenous wisdom, and the ancient perennial wisdom of the earth. The Eagle represents raw power, ingenuity, technology, and new possibilities for humans on earth. We have seen these two world-views struggling with each other during the era of colonialism when indigenous ways were conquered and oppressed. Today we are seeing technology with a capacity to destroy all life on the planet and people everywhere looking to traditional ways of earth stewardship as a responsible way to move forward with our technology. This uniting of Eagle and Condor is a blending of the positive aspects of both ways working together in harmony.

Author, activist, and economist, John Perkins has helped to popularize the Eagle and Condor Prophecy. Perkins is a co-founder and board member for The Pachamama Alliance which integrates indigenous wisdom with modern knowledge to support personal, and collective, transformation that is the catalyst to bringing forth an environmentally sustainable, spiritually fulfilling, socially just human presence on this planet. What if we use our highest human technology in service of each other and in service to healing our ailing eco-systems? This is the dream of the Eagle and Condor Prophecy!
